Prerequisites for Solace AMI

For complete RTView® system requirements, see README_sysreq.txt. You will need:

  • URL and Port number for each router you wish to monitor along with user ID and password (Use the private IP address to connections to connect the AMI to virtual routers running in the same Amazon environment. Contact your AWS admin if you want to connect to external VMR's )
  • VPN name that you want to monitor (optional)
  • AWS admin rights (needed to create instance)

Create Instance from RTView Monitor for Solace

  1. IMPORTANT – Log onto your AWS account as 'admin' – use the same browser for the remaining steps.
  2. Open http://sl.com/solace-ami-free-trial/ and complete the form. Once submitted you will be redirected to a document showing the AWS regional links available.
  3. Click on the appropriate link (as per your AWS guidelines) This will open the AWS console at "Step2 –Choose an instance type". The process automatically uses the "RTView Monitor for Solace AMI"
  4. Complete the configuration process in compliance with your AWS policy (t2.large with 8GB of storage suggested minimum). Note: you will be using a browser to connect to the AMI on port 8068 – please make sure that the security group you choose allows for access
  5. One the instance has been launched, assign a name and record the Public IP address (you will use this to connect from your local Windows environment)
  6. Use the Public IP address to launch a putty session.

Connect as ec2-user, no password.
Once connected, from the /bin directory execute "./start_servers.sh"
